Effortless is an AI-powered studio in New Zealand. The AI does the heavy lifting, and we spend our time on ideas that seem like fun. Some turn out useful, some turn out a bit silly, and a few are both.
Keep your household receipts in one place: a Google Sheet in your own Google account. Add receipts on your phone, see running totals by month, and share the sheet with the people you live with.
MyOkane is also growing into a bit of a hodgepodge: a family toolbox that picks up whatever its builder finds useful. So far that includes a few games, such as a points-only casino-style dice game, and a scoreboard for keeping score.
There is no Effortless server holding your data. The app talks to Google directly, using your sign-in.

Your household receipts in your own Google Sheet, plus a few games.
MyOkane started as a receipts app, and it is heading in a hodgepodge direction: a casino-style dice game, a scoring app, and anything else the builder finds useful. The games use points only, never real money. New features are added as they turn out to be worth having.
MyOkane has no server of its own. Receipts live in a Google Sheet that you or a family member owns. The app can only use spreadsheets it created for you or that you pick yourself. There are no ads and no tracking.

MyOkane is a personal and family app. It keeps your receipts in a Google Sheet that you create, or that someone shares with you, and it includes a few games (Minesweeper, a points-only dice game and a two-team scoreboard). The app has no server of its own: it talks directly to Google services using your Google account. This policy explains what data the app handles and where that data goes.
drive.file permission, which only lets it use spreadsheets that it created for you or that you
choose yourself in Google's file picker. It cannot see your other Drive files. You can either let the app
create a new sheet in your Drive or pick an existing one. The app also asks Google whether you own the
chosen sheet (file metadata only), to decide whether to show owner settings.Access tab (the owner
lists the email addresses of people who may use each part of the app), a Settings tab and a
Leaderboard tab. These live in the sheet, which the owner controls.MyOkane's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The app uses Google user data only to provide its features (sign-in, creating or reading your chosen sheet, and syncing your receipts). It does not use it for advertising, does not sell it, and does not allow people to read it except as needed to provide the features you ask for (for example, other people the sheet is shared with can see the sheet's contents).
Your receipts, the Access list and leaderboard entries are visible to anyone the spreadsheet is
shared with. The sheet's owner controls that sharing in Google Sheets. The Access tab controls
what the app shows each person; it is not a security boundary, so please share the sheet only with people you
trust. Data goes to Google as described above, for Sign-In, Sheets and Drive file access, Gemini via
Firebase, and App Check/Play Integrity. It goes to no one else.
All traffic to Google uses HTTPS. The app accesses a spreadsheet only with your own Google sign-in and permission, and you can revoke that at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
MyOkane isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
